During the 2012 Election, we have been reading TIME for KIDS magazine articles, watching Slim Good Body Videos, and reading books about the presidency and the election process.
We have even written and delivered our own presidential speeches... Here are a few:

Excited for the 15th, By: Mrs. Hall
A few weeks ago, one of my students came to me with a book that he cherished growing up... a book entitled I Stink by Kate and Jim McMullan. It was a blast reading through the story and watching my boys' eyes follow every page turn as if there was gold behind the pages. Needless to say, we fell in love with a new series. The books are jam packed with literary story elements and are high interest for all the readers in my classroom.
As always, in my classroom, we take most endeavors to the next level. We look at the author's website, and check out more books that the author has written. This case was no exception. Though, this time we were surprised to find these particular authors allowed their fans to skype with them! We immediately drafted an email and heard back from Mrs. McMullan the next day! We will be skyping with the McMullan's on November 15th!
In the meantime, we are studying the works of the McMullans and writing our own "McMullan Inspired" books....
Here's a sneak peek...

Check out this site to see what types of comics inspired me to write the comic above.
Does Superman Save the day? yes or no. Hi my name is Hulk. Now let me tell you some stuff about me. I first wrote this book when I was 7. I like to read comic books. I like to have fun with my family. I started reading when I was about 3. I wish I could tell you more but I'm dun.

Great-Grandma, By: Mrs. Hall
Tuesdays have come and gone throughout the summer... especially in July. I can't believe that school is coming, and it is coming fast. I was thinking today, how fast life really does go! It flies from year to year, and people come and go. Each day is precious, a gift, and should be used to build one another up, and be of encouragement to others, to waste it in selfishness would be a waste, wouldn't you agree?
I want to post about my grandmother today. My grandmother passed away June 21st from health problems. She was 86, and lovely.
My earliest memories of my grandmother consist of all the little wonderful things she always did, like the way she loved coffee, always had tons of pop tarts in stock:), crinkled her noes underneath her grandmotherly glasses when she laughed, loved Cracker Barrel, and the jokingly competitive way she played card games. Every bit of her was perfectly grandmotherly and beautiful. I couldn't name a flaw or even think of one to mention!
Although separated by a few hours, my grandmother, accompanied by my great aunts, was at all my life's biggest events, and small ones too... my wedding, my graduation parties, my performances, and she was apart of every Thanksgiving and many, many vacations to see our family in California. She loved that I became a teacher and always asked about my students, she loved Thomas, Asher, and Zoey too!
The best part of my grandmother was her strong faith and love for everyone she met. I think there are some who make you feel judged and less valuable, and others who make you feel like you are the best thing around! My grandmother was one who made each and every person feel of value.
Even at nine years old, you have a choice to make a difference to begin leaving a legacy and making others feel valuable, just like my grandmother did.
Think about what you do today, are you going to make it count? Are you going to encourage your family members and friends? I hope so!
Go out today, and change the world, okay?! People are watching you... and the decisions you make count!

It's Tuesday! By: Mrs. Hall
Taking Asher to see Peter Pan at The Wagon Wheel...his first theater experience!
How's your summer? Tell me, be honest, I want to hear from YOU!
Yes, there is a time, about a week after school ends, where this teacher starts to wonder, I mean really wonder, what you are up to, what you are reading (notice, how I didn't say IF you were reading, because I KNOW:) you are!), if you've traveled...and so on. So let me know! Be safe, let adults at home know you are on the computer, and give us an update....write me a story... or send us a joke! Write it as a comment.
Mainly, know you are thought about, and missed:) AND your voices are important, so let them be heard!
Me you ask? Well... I just returned from a week stent in Texas, visiting my aunt. You remember me talking about my Aunt Ellie, you know, the one who writes incredible letters? Yes, that's her! Mr. Hall and I went to spend a few days in the assisted living home, with her, to cheer her up, play the piano, and sing a bit while we were at it! It was a fun, but sad simultaneously. My aunt is pretty sick, so it was good to spend quality time with her.
Today, I spent the day running errands, oh, and as I type I can hear a man playing the tube on the hills of Winona Lake, strange:)
...what did you do?
Love,
Mrs. Hall
